Free monthly workshops designed to help our residents succeed.
The Lisbon Empowerment and Achievement Program is a series of free classes on a variety of topics to help the residents of Lisbon succeed. These classes will be held at the MTM Community Center, 18 School St, Lisbon Falls, on the dates listed below.
5 $25 gift cards will be raffled off at the end of each class.
If you attend 10 or more classes, you will be entered to win a grand prize of $500.

11/21/2024 Financial Literacy
- It's time to take charge of your finances! This session will help you better understand how credit scores work and how you can improve your score. We will also discuss personal budgeting, savings, and the best financial practices you can use to put yourself and your family on a path to success. 12/19/2024 Understanding Retirement Plans
- This session is designed to help you make informed decisions when choosing retirement plans. We will cover the different types of plans (401ks, IRA's, annuities, etc), types of investment funds, and important life circumstances and personal goals to consider when deciding on a plan. Please note that we are not able to provide individual financial counseling at this class. Presenter Brad Mates, Financial Adviser, Twin City Financial.
1/16/2025 Starting a Small Business
- Have you always thought about starting your own business? There's no time like now to take the leap! Our speaker, Jon Janson, is a business advisor with the Maine Small Business Development Center at AVCOG and he will lead us through all the steps necessary to get your small business running. We will cover the types of legal structures for small businesses as well as financial, marketing, human resources, and other basic considerations.

It's that time of year - TAX SEASON! Join us for an important overview of filing personal taxes so you can make the most of your return. Marjorie Millett, Client Services Coordinator for Community Concepts will take us through the steps of preparing your taxes, whether you do them yourself or work with a professional. She will cover items such as what documents you need to gather, how to take advantage of tax credits and deductions you may miss, and resources you can access for help. Please note: we will not be able to provide specific personal tax advice at this workshop.
