I just moved to town, what do I need to get a library card?

Residents can get a library card for free! Simply bring in official proof of residence (such as an updated driver's license with your Lisbon address, a utility bill, etc.) to apply for a card.

Children 5 years of age and older can apply for their own library card! They will need an accompanying guardian to co-sign the card unless they are 18 years or older. For more information on children using the library, please review our Children's Library Use Policy.

I live out of town, am I able to get a library card?

Families from area towns can apply for non-resident family library cards from the Lisbon Library Department. This is a one year membership with a fee of $60. This non-resident membership provides all the same library services as the resident patron membership.

Does the library have Tax Forms?

The library no longer receives federal or state tax forms or instruction booklets.

Federal tax forms are available for download from the IRS website (external site)

Maine State booklets and forms are available for download from the Maine Revenue Services website

Individual taxpayers who would like to have a booklet mailed directly to them may: order online using the Maine Revenue Services Electronic Request form or call the forms line at 207-624-7894 (leave your name and mailing address).

Library patrons may use the public internet computers to access these websites and print necessary forms at the cost of 50 cents per page.

It is $0.50 per page to print or photocopy and $2 per page to fax (outgoing only).

In most cases, yes. Think of this program like the inter-library lending program where you can request an item from another library that your own library may not have.

Each participating library reserves the right to limit what can be borrowed through this program.

Generally, however, if an item is available to borrow through inter-library loan, then it is most likely available to borrow through this program.

Yes! Please make sure your local card is up-to-date, hasn’t expired, and has no fees or fines. It must be in good standing to use it at a participating library.

Preferably, return the item to the library you borrowed it from, or return it to your “home” local library. However, you can return the item to any of the participating libraries, should the need arise. The goal of this program is convenience and customer service!

As it is currently the practice with interlibrary lending, you the borrower assume the responsibility for the replacement costs of any lost or damaged materials. All notices and bills will be generated by the “home” local library and will be sent to you – the same way they are currently – should an item get lost or damaged.

Yes, that’s correct! There are public libraries, college and university libraries, some school libraries, and health and specialty libraries. Maine libraries are unique in the nation for their ability to collaborate and share their resources with each other. You have access to all of them through this program.
