Sand for Seniors

The idea behind "Sand for Seniors" is to provide a senior citizen who is either alone or unable to carry a heavy bucket with sand that they can use to spread on their walkway, steps, etc. in hopes of preventing a fall. It also allows us to make face-to-face contact with some of our residents that we may not see in our regular day-to-day course of business.

The Lisbon Police Department, as well as the Topsham PD, Brunswick PD, Bath PD, Sagadahoc Sheriff's, and Cumberland County Sheriff's Offices, have partnered with the Topsham Home Depot, who have generously donated buckets and lids to this project.

Any senior citizen, or their children, can call the Police Department at 353-2500 ext Number 1, and request a bucket. We will do our best to have an officer deliver a full bucket of sand out to that resident within the following day or two. The bucket is then that person to keep and use on their own in the future. We are appreciative to Home Depot for taking part in this program and want to thank them again for their generous donation and support.
